Today's ride was one of the most beautiful I have taken  in a while.
Merlin  picked up 14 songbirds at the rookery that I could not see, but I saw 6 more bird types. But I was not inspired to write a lovely poem, nor a heart wrenching, nor a thought provoking one.  I don't know where my poet brain has hidden.  For four days I have wanted to cry and express kind of overall sadness related to endings and the possibility of beginnings, but when I pick up the pen nothing arises.  What I feel is the inability to move my right leg, the near immobile I am, and the pollen.  Yes, the pollen has taken over.

When I first moved into this house Margie gave me this columbine plant.  It has reseeded in all of these empty pots across the side yard, along with the milkweed.  I love it.

Hanging out on the pond I saw red wing blackbirds, kingfisher, momma and 6 baby wood ducks, and a heron.  Further down the road I saw at least 6 turkey.

The light was perfect.  And when I got home I made a real dinner.

The idea of fragile and strong is appearing in these photos, don't you think?  It's definitely my new theme.  I'd love it if my brain would click in and be interesting again.  Really I would.

According to the bird resource encyclopedia wood ducks could have already sent one batch of babies off into the world and these could be their second.  They did a complete circle around the pond, swam by the heron, went across to where I know there were nests and disappeared into the grass.  I got scared.  Aren't there more predators in the grass than in the open?  I don't know.  There have to be snapping turtles over there.  But 10 minutes later they came out swimming right in front of me.

And now the sun is behind the earth and the moon is up above for a while.  We get a blue moon this month.  And it looks like another day of sunshine in front of us.   I was getting tired of cold and wet by yesterday.  Saturday was hard on the system.
