Meet Scratch
He likes me and made me feel very wanted today.   I may have to get a cat.  I don't know.   
I don't know if it is Happy Birthday, or Happy Belated Birthday, Kenny Chartrand.  Which is it?  Kenny, how are you?


They showed up to replace the windows a half hour early this morning, I was still in my nightgown and barely able to keep my torso  erect.  Kind of scared me this morning.  But I put on some clothes and grabbed my Y bag and went to the rookery with what became my cup of cold tea.  I stared at the geese and clouds for a while and then went on to the Y.



I was so grateful to be there. 


After the Y I went on up to Brattleboro where Mary gave me lunch.  I love eating lunch in Mary's kitchen  I always feel taken care of.  

Scratch came to live with Mary when Tom was still in the hospital and the cats were being left alone a lot.   He wasn't happy so Andi asked Mary if she would take him home.  It's perfect, Scratch is so well cared for and Mary has unconditional cat love around her all the time.

Scratch has always loved me, too.  He always came and sat on the couch with me and Tom.  He's a big cat and at the moment he's shiny and happy.   



Got to hear more about the burial and feel grief with Mary and Tristan.   I want to connect with Robban.  I want to hear his story, too.  Oh, love and grief are both such sweetness, such sweetness like the early morning smell of honeysuckle.





Grabbed some time with Clara this evening.   She and I need to put our cooking dinner times into our calendars.   Now that I can push my furniture back against the walls because the windows are in place, I can go back to inviting people for supper.   



Before I came home I went back up to the rookery.  Two trips in 12 hours today.  Did have the heron fly over me, and the ducks were all feeding tonight.  Wood ducks greeted me.  And the light was really interesting, but unfortunately I forgot to put my memory card back in the camera.  All of today's photos are phone shots.  
Other people got really good shots yesterday at the reading.  I actually liked several taken of me.  So I posted one that Amie took.

March 20, 2026 Happy Happy Birthday, Clara Witty! Happy Spring.  Oh yes, we're ready for it. The difference between the rookery today and yesterday was big.  I was hoping a photo from each day would show the difference, but it doesn't.  There was much more open space today, but it showed mud not running water.  The running water continues in this stream across the whole thing.   So last night I did begin to think about starting a thread about preparing for death.  In our society that's such a negative statement, but in reality its positive.  Learning to talk about this stage of life, the stage I have just entered is healthy and helpful.   What has brought all this up for me is that I went through a series of tests looking for the cause of the pain I am in and the results are frightening.  They are not immediate, but they show the beginning of the deterioration of my body.  We're not supposed to talk about this stuff, but I had ...

  December 11, 2025 I got to see all three of my siblings this year, what a treat.  Also, I got to see all three spouses, double treat.  I only saw 2 of the next generation and then 4 of the next generation.  I guess we just don't live all that close any more and I have a hard time making it to holidays or doing any traveling at all. It was another day of no photography and no creative writing.  I did get some work done and I did go to LAVA, but my time of loneness was spent organizing the have to's in my life.  I also was in touch with many friends and making sure all were well.  All were well.  So again I offer no insights, I offer no entertainment, nothing really beautiful to look at.  But I am checking in and saying good night.  Here's to happy dreams.   Good night.
