Now I know you all think I'm a little looney thinking there are duck conferences going on at the rookery, but I'm telling you today there were 6 separate species of ducks congregating in the blue. They had hired the geese to manage things, but the early attendants were getting their rooms ready for the weekend.
Peaches are safe.Such a pretty morning, made it out early and the quince is just beginning to flower. Gary did such a good job on it last summer I think its going to be gorgeous this year. Everything is way too early. Even my clump of purple irises have already popped up against the fence.
I'm used to looking for 9 shades of green in early spring, but today was filled with reds.
I had encounters with 3 separate hawks today. When I first parked at the rookery one flew right over my car roof. All I saw was the underneath of his tail. Definitely not a red tailed, but very there. Then there was one towards the top of Taylor Rd and then as I'm going off onto Zerah Fiske one flew in front of me just long enough for me to park and try and focus.
The temperature made it to 67 today, it was almost a perfect weather day. I never got out of my own way though, stuck in a what now daze. I did take in all the color and I was quite aware of my own metabolism, but I just couldn't get beyond it. Nice visits with people I love, and a dog, but not really anything to talk about, or to write home to Mom about. Back to reading for me tonight. Wish me a good night's sleep.
I had lunch with David and Ozzie. You know I really do miss having a dog. I don't think I will ever be able to have one again though, I can't imagine being able to accept the responsibility ever again.
