Happy Birthday, Marti Tiffany


Rookery was 32 at about 2 o'clock.  It was cloudy and for some reason the pond looked big today.  

Coated with a silver sheen
Waterways pushing 
underneath the last of the ice.
Circuitous route between in and out.
Does the creek ever run backwards?


Bird count was big today.; 6 hawks in the hills
ring neck duck
c. merganser
bufflehead
C. geese
swan, a singular swan,
mallard
teal
crows
and way high up a few turkey vultures.

For the next few weeks I will be in and out of doctors' offices.  This waiting room had these guys to talk to.  I was grateful.

Part of me thinks that using the blog as a way to share my experiences with the medical world is a good idea, and part of me believes not.  Is it too intimate?  Does anyone want to know?  Is there a way to make it a conversation.  I think the topic of medical treatment as us baby boomers enter into elderhood is very important and I think it is important for us to begin to share our experiences and use our voices to get better care.  But I'm not sure if people who are reading my blog agree.  Plus, besides my family, I don't know who is reading it.  So if you want to comment, please do.

March 20, 2026 Happy Happy Birthday, Clara Witty! Happy Spring.  Oh yes, we're ready for it. The difference between the rookery today and yesterday was big.  I was hoping a photo from each day would show the difference, but it doesn't.  There was much more open space today, but it showed mud not running water.  The running water continues in this stream across the whole thing.   So last night I did begin to think about starting a thread about preparing for death.  In our society that's such a negative statement, but in reality its positive.  Learning to talk about this stage of life, the stage I have just entered is healthy and helpful.   What has brought all this up for me is that I went through a series of tests looking for the cause of the pain I am in and the results are frightening.  They are not immediate, but they show the beginning of the deterioration of my body.  We're not supposed to talk about this stuff, but I had ...

  December 11, 2025 I got to see all three of my siblings this year, what a treat.  Also, I got to see all three spouses, double treat.  I only saw 2 of the next generation and then 4 of the next generation.  I guess we just don't live all that close any more and I have a hard time making it to holidays or doing any traveling at all. It was another day of no photography and no creative writing.  I did get some work done and I did go to LAVA, but my time of loneness was spent organizing the have to's in my life.  I also was in touch with many friends and making sure all were well.  All were well.  So again I offer no insights, I offer no entertainment, nothing really beautiful to look at.  But I am checking in and saying good night.  Here's to happy dreams.   Good night.
