I think I had a very pleasant Sunday

I'm learning how to be lonely.  I've spent many years pushing loneliness away.  It's like boredom; my mother used to tell us we had no right to be bored, that we were too smart and creative to ever be bored. And she'd tell us to go find something to do.  No wonder we all have a million projects going all the time.  Because you can't be bored.
Well I can't be lonely either.  Think about it.  Think about how many people I have in my life and how often I interact with another human being.  But the truth is lately I've been lonely.
I'm trying to learn to be with it instead of denying it.  Tonight I embraced the fact that I did not want to fix a salad and eat it by myself playing a computer game one more night.  So I went to the Wagon Wheel and had fish and chips and Clara and Morgan saw my car and they joined me and ate ice cream.

I worked the box office again today.  We had another sold out show.  There was a great audience.  I left just before the end and went on my rookery ride.  There were a lot of wood ducks hanging out.  Kind of a perfect day for them, although not rainy enough.  It was 80 and partly cloudy and a little earlier than I'm usually there.  Sherry walked down and we talked a bit.  There was a bird call we didn't recognize.  The color is beginning to appear, but you can tell we haven't had enough rain.  It's the yellows that are appearing and they are dull. But I remember this happened last year, too, and that in October at the end there was a blast of deep colors.  We'll see what happens.

After my fish and chips I went across Rt 2 to the edge of the Cove facing the sunset.  There was some good color.  There were a lot of people walking their dogs.  There were tons of swans and geese in the river.   I looked for an eagle, but didn't spot one tonight.  No heron in the rookery, no eagle in the cove.  Maybe it was their day of rest, too.

Did I ever link Billie's blog to this one?  I don't think I did.  I really need to do that if only to make sure I read it often.  I need to learn how to link stuff to my blog.
