Welcome to the rookery after a rainstorm.
Gerard came to visit today and reminded me that it isn't any different from the work I did in 1985. Lauren Schmidt read a poem Wednesday called something like. "Why Teach Poetry Here" It illustrated the same point. This participatory art stuff is about thought development, no matter what level of competency you are. And it does all the things you want it to do, it starts discussion, creates community, involves people in their own journeys along side of other's journeys. And as Charlie worked, I got to observe and ask questions. YAY
I went home and took a nap. A big storm blew in and I woke up because something rattled loudly. I thought it was T., but no, it was the wind. Very big wind, very loud thunder and a lot of water. Thank God.
Once again the photos uploaded backwards.
When I got home the wind had actually begun to pick up and it was close to 90. By the time I went chasing rainbows, which I did not find, it was 73. The sun was coming out over the rookery, but the storm clouds were still in the Southeast. I sat and wrote for a while. Lots of activity at the rookery. Me and one solitary heron contemplated life. Then I drove on. The world really really appreciated the rain.
I need to keep working on my new poem so I'm not going to post it tonight. But it felt so normal to sit and write while Kingfishers fed and to pull a camera up and snap what I saw and felt. I really did it with my heart today. Oh thank you, Gary, you have no idea how helpful it is. I didn't know how helpful it would be.
