Welcome back, Lindy.

Just looked up the number 1 songs of August 15, 1968, which was a very eventful month for me.  I spent most of it in Berkeley with Mike and Jason so  Mike could work.  I was introduced to Janis and The Band and the Doors, who had a big hit.   I also was in a car accident and my arm was dragged between the road and the top of a VW bug.  I did not lose my arm,  I have scars and a bent finger, but I did not lose it. I spent a good portion of 10th grade without the use of my right hand and arm.  And I was scared of cars for a good many years afterwards, but I did not lose it.  This is how one learns to be grateful.

OK, no rookery ride today, but a ride to the canal at 6 pm.  It was 91 degrees, but not excessively humid, and beautiful.  There were several kinds of ducks that I will identify later and there were swans  and geese and one male heron looking out on his late summer, early autumn home.  He was majestic, I was very happy to see him.  I miss them.

I think I'm figuring out the Nikon.  I need to pull out my f stop guide and brush up on it.   But I'm getting it.  It really is much lighter than the Canon and not quite as flexible, but easier in ways.  I also like the clarity of this lens.  And I realize a Nikon 500 would be expensive.  But I'm satisfied playing, actually, more than satisfied, I'm having a blast.  It really is a type of therapy for me.

Went over to Edite's afterwards, her grapes and apples are doing great.   Peaches are gone, and the colors are purples at the moment.   There were two giant blue jays playing in the sprinkler.  I missed her, but I got 10 minutes of the garden.  Time to go over there and write soon.
