August 26, 2025
Apparently I was in Westminster West a year ago today, too.

I woke up this morning with the surety that it would be a good day. I had blueberries and yogurt for breakfast and I was going to Vt. with EJ to visit with Annie and Matt.  What could be better?   What could go wrong?  Within a half hour my computer was frozen and Microsoft was involved with security issues.

After a remarkable amount of time I started my day, and I was right, hanging with those guys is the best, no doubt about it.  In these last days of August something happens though, everything changes, colors change, textures change, traffic patterns change and grocery lines get longer.   It's like the water rushing out of the rookery.  You've spent all summer waiting for things to bloom and grow and all of a sudden the reversal begins.  The swamp maples are red and the milkweed is covered in pods and yellow and orange  appear everywhere.

Sitting on the deck overlooking the meadow an adolescent eagle appeared.  The squirrels were chattering and everything was full, complete.

The summer is over.  Where did it go?  What did I do with it?  I'm totally dumfounded.

I didn't get home until six and I realized my garage door was off the building again and the junk that was closest to the door was dumped on the floor, just lying there blocking the entrance.  It makes me feel so vulnerable.  I hate it.  I have to do something about the garage right away.  No more procrastinating about home related stuff.  I just have to dive in and do it.  PERIOD.
