Just after I completed my blog last night I reinjured my leg. I am back to being immobile only I'm immobile in Loren's house. Her cat Bosco hurt his leg too. They're at the vets, both Loren and Patrick thought maybe the vet could help me too. I have funny friends. But I couldn't really ask for a sweeter place to eat some dinner. And you don't need your right leg to work on your poetry. So I did get some work done in spite of being stuck.
Loren's home is lovely and although I haven't visited her since she left Easthampton, (not sure what year that was) her surroundings still feel comfortable, familiar to me. Loren's Mom was a Key West painter and her sense of color is so wonderful. Her pictures are all over the place. Loren has taken up visual art and her work is hanging all over, too. It's so great to see her dive into her art. It's also inspirational for me to work on mine.
I'm working on the section of my manuscript called Sun. I've collected about 30 poems I've written in the past couple of years that are about the natural world or looks at the juxtaposition between nature and human behaviour, primarily in love and grief. It is an interesting experience to read them all together in one run. Not sure how many of them I will use. I have another day tomorrow to keep working on it. In spite of the pain, this is pretty cool gift, hanging out with a good friend in a lovely place with good food.
Doing all right.
