I could smell the smoke on the way to the rookery tonight,

I had a Coopers Hawk swoop in front of me.  They have such wonderful tails.  By the time I went up to the rookery there seemed to be less smoke and pollen in the air, but my eyes were stinging.   I can't put any real weight on my leg for any length of time, but I could sit in the car and stare out at the wetland and listen to the competing sounds of the red eyed vireo, the yellow warbler, and a chestnut warbler.  Their songs are both distinct and similiar and I can't tell them apart, yet.

A chipmunk came to tell me to go home, and a porcupine raced me up Taylor Road.  I won.

There was a kingfisher at the beaver pond, I saw him out of the corner of my eye when I first arrived.  He went for a dive in front of me and chased off a red winged black bird.  And then he took to a higher branch and modeled for me for a good long time.  We had a nice conversation.  He was quite handsome, but not very talkative.
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping she'll attend to my leg.  I really don't know what's going on, but it's worse than it was a few days ago.   I can only do my pool exercises on my left side.  That can't go on for very long.  Wish me luck.

I kind of need my leg to work this weekend, but I can't not work so I'll just have to deal.  It'll be fun no matter what happens.

This really is my favorite bird.
