It was an awful day weatherwise, but not so in general.  Do they say it is good luck to have a wolf spider trapped in your bathtub? Could be.  I need to acquire just a little more courage and catch him and put him outside,   I'd post his picture, but it might creep too many people out,

New information about the rookery from neighbor, Jen.  Apparently, several years  ago a human went in and destroyed one of the beaver dams which forced all of the water in the pond to rush down the stream and flooded Jen's property.  This time there was not an immediate flood, instead over 2 days their yard got wetter and wetter .  It is a normal part of the beaver eco-environment for the dams to let go, slowly, not in a horrible rush.  So Jen believes that is what happened.  It will take almost 20 years for it to fully expand again.   It's so amazing that I have 5 years of its development on film.

The air quality was not as bad today, and it certainly didn't go over 100, but it was hot and humid and I was not motivated to take the world on.  However, I made it to the pool, back in the saddle, bought some groceries and went on a small ride.   Had a fun conversation with EJ, a few work e mails, some friendly chats and soon my a.c. bedroom will lull me into sleep.

Just one quick memory brought on by the wolf spider:   Did any of you have the toy that made Creepy Crawlers.  You poured plastic goop in to molds and they hardened into creatures.  I loved that toy and had it way into my teens.  The year Michael married and brought Jason to Berkeley I sent Jason  an entire Saltine tin full of creepy crawler spiders specially because my brother was phobic about spiders and I felt left.  Jason was three and did what all 3 years olds do, he chased his Dad around the Berkeley apartment with spiders, lots of pink, orange, blue and purple spiders.

Sorry Mike, no regrets, and it did make me think of you this morning when I saw my new friend in the tub.  I wish I were just a little less intimidated by him because he deserves to be set free.
