Canada Geese are good parents.  There are two families in the rookery at the moment.  They grow so fast.  Today there were other geese visible, too.  One was on the road when I first got there, but he didn't want me to take his picture.  There are also many nests of red wing black birds.  They are so protective.
One of them is making sure neither the geese not the barn swallow get too close to the nest.  Adult geese are looking at him like, don't worry, we're not interested.   This was a frequent sight today

The wild flowers are definitely coming out.

I almost stopped on the road and picked a bouquet.  I'll put scissors in my car tomorrow.  Besides the daisies and these guys, there were a lot of buttercups and a purple flower that I have in my yard, too.

Does anyone know where Sam and Max are?  It's  been a week since they were last in the pasture.  I miss them.

I think 4:00 to 5:30 is a great time for me to write, but not a good time for watching nature.
A Piliated consistently called from a tree above my head for at least five minutes.  Now I don't mean pecked at a tree, I mean called out to someone, something.  The only thing that seemed to be answering, besides me, was a Robin.  I really wanted to know what was going on.  It really is like being in a land where you don't speak the language.

Rookery neighbor, Tom, told me he saw 14 turtles on the log the other day at noontime.  I'm going to have to go up on a sunny day.   I knew they were going to appreciate that fallen tree.  It is perfect turtle world.

I got out of the car today and took a little walk because I was hoping the goose on the road's nest was close, but I didn't see anything.

The other thing I did catch though, was the yellow warbler who is small, but he's distinctive.  I watched him loop in and out of reeds across the way.  I've heard him every time I've gone up this week, but this was the first time I caught sight of him.

There is a new grackle nest on top of last year's.  There are babies in it, but I didn't catch them with the camera.  I did catch Papa.

I did not get accepted to the writing center I applied to, which really disappointed me, but if I'm going to do this stuff I have to just get back on the horse and send out more applications.  So I put out feelers to other readings and I found a couple other submissions I will send in tomorrow.  I still am easily discouraged.
