My brother, Michael, used to say that photographing horses was a cheat.  That it was hard to take a bad picture of a horse.  I'm not sure I agree, but I do like a good photo of a horse.

I came remarkably close to being in a really bad car accident today.  It was my fault and it shocked me big time.  The man I almost hit was very generous in his response and those who witnessed it came out to be of help.  Nothing was damaged.  I hit nothing.  My breaks were excellent and my response was excellent, however, I  completely spaced a stop sign I have gone through a million times.  It may have been the first time I ever ran a stop sign in my 56 years of driving.  Scared me so bad I disassociated for the rest of the day.

I went over to visit Edite finally.  I'd forgotten how comfortable I am in that living room and how much I miss our weekly writing group.

The songbirds were so animated today.  The weather was pretty perfect and where ever I went and turned Merlin on I immediately got a half dozen bird identifications.  The ovenbird was in all of the places I pulled over to write in, but I saw none.  I saw red winged black birds, grackles, swallows and these bigger birds, but I saw none of the songbirds.  But I was told that just hearing them was good for me and helped to regulate cortisol.  So I meditated on the songs.  I think I've memorized a few new ones this week.

As perfect as I think everything is at the moment, I have an infected eye and am not breathing well in this pollen.  I really did spend a lot of the day just being calm.  I really was shocked by how shook up I was by the car mistake.  I am so glad I didn't hit anything.  But it made me realize once again I have to take this getting older stuff seriously.
