1st Sunday Open Mic
I took several pics of writers reading today.
I also read and got a lot of positive feedback.
Limbs, Bones and Branches
This
tree cooled me mid summer
Now
it will warm my
bones
with her bones.
Her
excess fallen in the winds
Trimmed
away
Left
in small stacks
for
my taking.
Limbs
Bones
Branches.
Witchy
ancestors
speak
from the marrow
of
her limbs
Deep
guttural sounds
bubbling
up as they fester
in
the heat of the womb
like
stove.
Encircled
around
Drawing
the edge
Is
it comfort or survival?
Is
it simply another day?
We went a long time today. Close to 20 open mic readers and 3 Featured Readers. Luckily the majority of its good. Really is kind of an amazing congregation of writers.
Rookery was 54 degrees, but it felt 10 degrees less than that. Mergansers were dominating the scene. They are beginning to pair off and they were making noise this afternoon.
It was not very sunny but the reflections on the water were strong. Soon green will begin to pop up around the edges and that soft brown will get erased. There is some red bud action in the trees.
I've made a commitment to EJ to write at least 350 words a day. I wrote over that today, but it's not interesting enough to post. I'm making this commitment in support of EJ's writing their senior project; a mutual pledge.
