Alright, you all, what do you see in this photo?
The sun is setting right now and I should be out there shooting it instead of processing and writing. But I was excited to see my ride photos.
And there is that large brown blur in a couple of the photos. Could it be a cub moving quickly up a tree?
I sat there for over an hour today feeling pain, taking it in, but also feeling the quiet peace of the rookery. I sat on the phone with EJ, both of us outdoors in our perspective worlds and listening to birds and catching up.
As I came a long side of the beaver pond I noticed a small black bear near the dam. I stopped. Before I could lift my camera up, he had bolted across the street. This is my only shot, just before he leaped into the woods. He was gone very quickly. But he looked so healthy. His fur was black and shiny. It was kind of a thrill. When I got my photos downloaded and realized there may have been one at the rookery, I felt double lucky.
Today's 60+ weather was also appreciated. This morning in the pool I realized I'd been cold a lot recently. It felt good to sit in the sun. 91 earthquakes outside San Diego today? That's not good. I think I'll just try to feel grateful for the good days when they are here with me. I do love the beauty of our woods.
