Two heron in the rookery today. It was 50 degrees at 5 and there were wood ducks, common merganser, black ducks, red winged black birds, C. geese, and 2 great blues. It was overcast, but a little warmer and a happy place.
I really did have kind of a normal low key weekend. Went out to breakfast this morning and felt adult and cared about. Had a long phone call with Kevin and tried to make sense of the world. There is no sense. Bought some food to make dinner. Did some laundry, did some dishes, read a little, basically took it easy.
Went up to the rookery for a bit and walked a little, not enough to claim it was a walk, but I did get out of the car and go look at the lower edge of the rookery. The water is high. There was enough of a breeze to cause a little rippling. I think the herons are using it as a fishing hole this year. These 2 may have been born here.
The red winged yelled at me through out my walk, but he didn't fly away. I think he was yelling at me. He may have yelling at the herons, but I don't think so.
The eagles did not make an appearance. I actually looked for them in the farm yard, too, but 2 of the dogs were out. My guess is the eagles don't care for the dogs.
I'm actually kind of looking forward to this week. There are some fun events planned and I will attend a few of them. I also need to organize a vendor inventory so I can sell some books this month. And I think it will be fun to watch the rookery this week, too.
