What an extraordinary weekend.  Thank you to everyone who worked on it, who came out for it, who brought such wonderful community energy to the space and to LAVA.  I loved it.

Before I left the house this morning I watched a cardinal sneak into my garage.  Is it possible he has made a nest in there?  I don't know how long the door has been open the crack.  It probably happened in the wind on Friday night.  The cardinal was on the porch roof, he flew over to the bushes,, up onto the garage door and into the garage.

51 people at the open mic this afternoon.  18 people read and there were 2 really good featured readers.  Subjects covered the gambit, from politics, to ancestorial guilt, to a new children's song to act out.  There were tears, laughter, a piano poem and a blues harmonica about aging.    It was a wonderful way to end LAVA's 5th birthday party.  Great weekend.

A little childhood/adult song for the times.

And tomorrow I will go back to directing myself towards my personal goals of my own health and welfare.  I also have to figure out how to balance some activism into my life.  If I get too hooked into the national trauma, I'm screwed, but if I ignore it, I'm screwed, too.  I have to find the balancing point so that I can live with myself but I don't make myself sick, either.  I have to keep my sight on the beauty and on my personal goals, as well as, the wellness of this country and planet.

And it has to start with free speech or we are so f.......
