There has been a lot of talk about ice and icicles and ice storms today.   That reminded me of winter that EJ's father, Chris knocked down huge icicles from their roof line sending them careening into fairly deep snow.  This gave EJ the idea to dye the whole field of ice.  They took food coloring and sprayed and painted the whole area.  It was beautiful and kind of looked like a moonscape or something other planet-like.   So I went looking for the pictures of it that I know I have somewhere.  And instead I found this which has been talked about a few times in the past week.  This was their 8 year old drawing for MLK Day in 2009.   It was the cover of the program for the next couple of years.   EJ's first published art.

When I got to work this morning not only could I not find my keys, but my co-worker was locked into LAVA.  The latch broke and I couldn't get in and he couldn't get out.  I called another worker who came down with a key and we unlocked it.  While waiting for Vanessa I contemplated this piece on the outside wall.  Is it a heart or is it a skull?  Thus, illustrating my mood at the beginning of my work day. A few hours later they came to fix the latch, but it broke worse and we were caught inside the building.  Luckily Steve knew how to get out through the basement.  By the time he left though, the key wouldn't even work.  It really was a metaphor for my last few days.  Oh well.

There was no programming today and very few people came in because the world was scurrying around to prepare for the obvious on-coming storm.  The humidity was high, the grey was bearing down and it started off chilly.   So I went to Rise Above.  They are soooo good.    ...   I'm still carless so Charlie brought me to get some food and then home.  I came home to sand on the ice in my driveway and full bucket.  Ways my friend David improved my life, yesterday.
I still haven't figured out how to have complete control over formatting this blog.  I'm not so sure why it does what it does.  Going to have to ask for help, I believe.

This is Valentine the super cat.  I'm telling ya, she was the best cat ever.  She was EJ's protector.  I think EJ has always had an animal guide living with them.   Valentine was the most obvious.  This cat knew what was best for them.  She came to live with EJ when they were about two. Unbelievably smart and clued in feline.  We all loved her.  (This was another photo I found searching today.)

Tomorrow will be stormy, but maybe interesting from a photo stand point.  Today was about stability.  I offer you a poem tonight, too.

In an attempt at being still

causing my mind to release

all worries gone I opened

up to empty the room.

Curiosity prevails

Questions rush in

thoughts emerge

new ideas

fill

that open space

so quickly I don’t blink

so fast a new project is named.

No time to just sit with open nothingness

no time to be alone with myself.

Time to just be in this tumbling world

Keep the catastrophic pace fed and move on
