A lovely day.
I spent most of the day being engaged in self caring activities including a ride to the rookery for the first time in a while. By the time I went up it had stopped snowing, but the wind was strong and it made it feel as though it was still flying. Also, the temperature was all over the place today, It has settled at 30 tonight, but earlier we were supposed to get rain. We only got snow, about 5 inches of it. It's quite lovely and pristine at the moment and when the sky was blue, quite lovely.
There were no otters on the ride today. I haven't seen any this winter and was beginning to worry about them but a friend has one living out on an island on the lake she lives on. She's been waking up in the morning to see him. I guess the rookery is just not lucky enough this year. I haven't seen any 4 legged animals, thus far.
I'm going to spend more time looking for them in February. January is about to come to a close and I have stated the intention to do more of my own work in February. I am going to dedicate my life to doing those self care acts that I know are so good for me.
I also think I'm going to establish a bucket list. One of the first items on that list is going to be to spend an entire winter on Nantucket. I want to study birds on the island over the winter. It means I need a better lens and a new tripod, but I'm going to actively try to make it happen.
I'm looking for a poem from the Anthology to post, but somehow my file of the manuscript is gone. I'm not sure about my cognitive skills this week, but I do know I better get a new external drive to back up my files.
Enjoy the photos tonight. More to come tomorrow.

Something like the sun
Seems to have spilled red wine across the mountain
Where the sky should sit
Or is it the blood of the dying day
Or the first blood of the birth of night
