Is this our first real snow of the season, or our second?
I also did not get out before the ice started so I did not go to the rookery today. I've been home almost the entire day.
Robert Frost read at JFK's inauguration in the snow with the light too glary for him to see the words. He managed to recite a different one than he planned to, off the cuff, from memorization. I have to tell you I believe I have memorized more Frost poems than my own. I'd be up the creek if it happened to me.
Have you ever been up to the Frost gallery in the top floor of the Amherst Library. One session while teaching Economic Literacy I worked with students at TLP Amherst site. They were without a home at that point and the library was letting us use the Frost room to teach out of. I remember thinking it was very appropriate. I learned more about Frost that session than ever before. Frost was the first graduation speaker at Marlboro College in 1947. There was one graduate. He was one of several people who rallied around the early days of Marlboro. (Institutional History)
I try so hard to keep my blogging a political, but it's very difficult to do that at the moment. I am in shock at the state of this country's government and what it says about this country's educational system, which is what I care the most about. But I don't want this to become a forum for arguments. However, well written stories that illustrate both the problems and potential solutions are welcome. I'm hoping that along with my creative activities my brain may wrap itself around some positive activities to do to keep those I love safe and able to express themselves fully. All of them.
I'm going to work on a new poem tonight. Maybe I can post it tomorrow.

I look forward to the poem. Remind me via text please...
