August 31, 2025 Amie and I finally got to do a favorite ride together. What a beautiful day for the last day of August, and a gorgeous day for a slow ride throughout the county. When I dropped Amie off at home she looked up to see a heron fly in front of the moon, proof that all was well at that moment. What a day. I won't talk about the triggers that rock my world, they are kind of irrelevant at the moment. Nightmares during an afternoon nap are frustrating. One takes a nap for refreshment, not to sink into depression. Sometimes I think its just blood sugar falling and other times its being vulnerable to too much of the outside world. Today it may have been both. But going for a ride with Amie, like we used to do all the time, was a wonderful antidote. We drove the dirt road to Northfield. We went all the way to the Brewery and then back again. The Connecticut is so beautiful between Gill and Northfield. It w...

August 30, 2025 The first sunset on Poets Seat with the Nikon. Very odd sunset, there was only one spot of colors. A perfect Saturday morning. It was sooo beautiful. The show came down. There were a lot of pieces to it. There were a lot of bits and corners, tags and yarn. There's still some to be done. At around 5:30 I started my ride journey through my peaceful spaces. The rookery was in feeding time, heron, kingfisher and swallows were prominent. There were the usual ducks and quiet, no breeze per se. I saw no four legged anything up over the hill. The sun was still up enough to make it feel like day, but boy does the light change at the end of August. Then for sunset I went up Poets Seat which must have had 30 people on it, mostly families, which is fun. Again the light is so different, and there is this yellow to purple action that never comes out right in a picture. But I think I'm getting the han...

August 29, 2025 Hey Happy Birthday, Melody Tilton. Glad we share family. The end of the month, the end of a show, an end of a summer,, and an end of a day. After swimming, and being treated to breakfast for lunch, Patrick and I took all of the trash and recycling to the dump. We stuffed, literally stuffed his van full of dump material. Then we dumped it into the bins, or whatever they are. At the dump there is this enormous pile of cut up trees of different types and different levels of deterioration. The shapes and textures eaten into the wood is fascinating. We went down to get a closer look. He had a real camera on him, I just had my phone. I took some of him that look like he's being eaten by the giant wood animal monster. There was also fresh cut cherry that was so beautiful. For wood lovers this might be a little paradise. Then we went for a fast run to the rookery. There were wood ducks and a her...

August 28, 2025 The Making of Fragments My bestest pal, my greatest wacky, is going back to Bard for the final semester on Saturday. They went "back to school" clothes shopping with their Mom today and brought them into LAVA to show me. This jacket was great. Very soft and kind of grim reaper looking. You can't see the t, but it says BRO in Greek... EJ, you make my heart sing and I am so very proud of you. David and Val came over around 4 to install David's visual art response to the show. It was pretty fun watching them, kind of helping them, install it. The only rule we really had was that you had to be able to hang it on the wall. David pushed the limit a little bit, and I'm not sure it will stay for very long, but it is hanging by a hook on the wall. Ahhh the boundary pushers of my life. The pieces of bark have lines from all of the other writings printed on them. The bucket holds treas...

August 27, 2025 Ani DiFranco, you are hot shit. It was a great day. I was gifted 2 tickets to see Ani DiFranco tonight. Took Clara. David had tickets, too, so he came along with us. We had a blast. It's so easy to go to the Tree House Brewing Company for shows. They make it so easy on you. Really good time with really good friends. Thank you so much, Wendy. You are so sweet. Made me really happy. I need to find my Ani CDs and start playing them. She's a poet. She's so good. I feel inspired tonight. I even wrote a poem during the concert. I am full tonight. So very very full.
