Fairgrounds Holiday Light Show.
It was a good day and it started with a poem from T. and a good cup of tea. And its ending after enchiladas with Clara and a drive through the holiday light show. I got groceries and I finished some tasks i've put off all week oh and I read half of EJ's project. I'm so impressed, I'm so wowed.
At 3 I went to the rookery. It's first time I've photographed it since it was covered in snow. There were no major foot prints, there were wonderful shadows and it was so peaceful to look at.
Red tailed flew through the trees in front of me, across the field and into this tree. I stopped to take his photo, so far away, but look at those tail feathers.
This hunter came out by the beaver pond. He was so unsure of what I was doing with my camera. He kept waving me to go instead of seeing that I was taking pictures. But his rifle was doable, was a tool to use to find food. I wasn't shocked by a semi-automatic or something that would have offended me. I was curious about my own comfort. He was walking through the same field I saw the stag in last week, the one I wrote the poem about, the poem about being alone with the deer.
Back to downtown Greenfield which has completed its decorations for the season. Tomorrow they will sing carols in the Common.
After dinner Clara and I drove through the fairgrounds light exhibit. I was amazed at how many cartoon characters lead the holidays, Bluey was driving a train and Stitch and Grinch and Snoopy, oh and Santa was driving the police cruiser all stuffed with presents. Is this because we are trying not to be overbearing Christians, so instead of the stories, we make them accessible to children through known cartoons? The only manger was done by a local church and I saw no other religions represented at all. There are important stories to tell, many tell the same tale with different lens, but there is a repetition of morals, a repetition of lessons to tell. And their is beauty. What I personally knew about religion in the first 20 years of my life was taught to me through music and art. I learned those stories through the creativity of Amahl or singing in a chorus in December. I still think those lessons are important to teach through as many lens as there are to offer the world. We need to celebrate in this cold winter month.
The moon was glorious, but none of my photos came out. I think Clara got a couple that are worth seeing. I had never taken her to the graveyard to watch it rise before so when we left the fairgrounds we went to the cemetery and watched it rise above the trees. It was really ivory light shooting from a giant orb in the sky. She was stunning.

The final photo today was taken Thursday at Full moon by David who gave me permission to post it. It's a little bit of a cheat tonight, but it helps to show the moon of the past few nights.
