My friend David at the Community Art Show Opening
It was a wonderful opening with some wonderful people and several whom I met today for the first time. People showed up at 11 and stayed until 2. I did not do a speech or welcome people as a whole. I tried to welcome people individually. I think it was a big success. It also is beautiful and will be up until December 20th.
I love this photo of Edmund looking at the show with intent. He is the artist who did the 4 paintings in one frame.
I made no attempt to set a context for the show this year, which I think worked, but I'm going to write one and hang it for gallery goers. This show consists of 30 artists all local. The youngest artist is 25 and the oldest 80 or so. 24 of them came to the opening today with friends and family. When the show looks so good, people beam when they see their own piece. I love watching faces.
First time shower and her granddaughter, such a sweet duo, wish the picture was a little sharper.
Up to the rookery I went at 3:45 almost too late for clear shots, but I got a few. The goats were near the barn. But there were no hawks or eagles or owls. I know that the rookery changes impacted the food chain options, so I'm not sure the eagles will come by too often. But the rodents in the fields are still there for the hawks and the owls.
And the color is changing still with most of the trees bare at this point.
I can't tell if the rain has begun, yet, but I think we have a couple of days of rain in front of us. I can also feel it in my joints, I'm afraid I really hurt tonight.
I love these two brothers, their coats are thickening and look shiny this week. I don't remember how long they stay up in this field before the snow starts to fall. Rumor has it we may have some before Thanksgiving. (It was 2 years ago that David and I went and got EJ at Bard and drove home in a storm. Here's hoping that doesn't repeat. One more Thanksgiving trip and then 3 more weeks and completion. Oh it's so exciting.) So snow, don't get in the way this year, please.
