The hanging of week 4: 9 pieces of visual art and 17 pieces of writing at the end of today.

I woke up a little early this morning and I went to meditate at the rookery before 8.   It was 67 and hazy, I couldn't tell if it was all humidity or some smoke from the wildfires in Canada.   There were several geese hanging out and a heron was across the pond.  Not having a camera really cuts down on my bird watching.  I could not tell what was across the way.

When I first got there I felt as though it was very silent, I could only hear the red winged black birds, but I could see some motion.  I know what the kingfisher's movements look like, so I knew they were there.  I turned on Merlin and within seconds 12 birds were recorded.  After a few minutes I started hearing the sparrows talking to each other.  And I finally heard the Yellowthroat vireo.

I drove to the beaver pond and it looked even lusher than it did when Patrick and I went up on Thursday night.   But the creak on the other side of the road was almost dry.   We need rain.

The pink and purple wild flowers are abundant and the oranges are beginning to be dominate. I still don't know where the horses are being kept and there were no steers or mother black cows in their usual pasture.
Looking towards the Berkshires at around 9 a.m. it was 72 and very hazy and very brown.

I went on down to the Coop and got an egg and did a puzzle before I went to LAVA to hang this weeks work with Jo.

I am amazed at how many more writings there are in response to so few visual art pieces and I am hoping that the visual artists will begin to respond to some of the many pieces of writing hanging now.   We actually have 5 more weeks and an entire 2nd gallery wall. We have another 30 people signed up and more seem to be trickling in.  People see it and want to respond to it, too.

I began to document ideas about it and copy it for a potential book. I hope it inspires the visual arts community to come together more often.  The programming at LAVA across the board is what is so exciting about the center.
