A full day today, a full day of friendship, work and art.
It was a perfect day for the turtles to climb out of the mud and soak up the sun. I couldn't actually see them across the water but I could see the sun shining off their shells. And there is a new log that has lodged right in front of where I park so I will have plenty of turtle opportunities.
The bird count was wonderful this morning. Heron, red tailed hawk, vultures, Common mergansers, geese, black duck, wood ducks, kingbirds, kingfishers, and swallows.
Amie and I went to the GCC student art show. I love it so much, I always have. It's always right next to my birthday and I feel inspired by it. Tonight I met a couple of the students, I knew a couple,, but because they don't label the artwork, if you don't know the student's work, you don't know who did what. The only piece I knew was Charlie's charcoal, which I love. I also was really interested in the still life. The photography is all about light. I was trying to figure out if there were common elements that attracted me more than others, too.
I think it is light that is most important to me in some sense. Obviously, I am tuned into color and texture, but light effects both of those so substantially.
I sat in a chair for 45 minutes and stared at the art all around me in this room and there were pieces I returned to most often, but I'm not sure that's because I liked them more than others.

We left the show and tried to find a drink and settled on ice teas from Dunkin. LOL. We brought them up to Poets Seat which has opened the gate. The sunset was flat, not that interesting but through the iced tea, a little more interesting. So we did our own series of still life at sunset.
