Happy Birthday, Moriah. Hope your day was warm and wonderful.
This day has started strangely for me. I woke by 4 a.m. and started remembering all my birthdays. On the evening of April 15, 1953 my mother was playing a concert in New Haven with the New Music Quartet. Walter Trampler, Claus Adams, I don't remember who else played with them, but she went into labor with me half way through, finished the concert and then drove to Norwalk to deliver me around 3 a.m. on the 16th. That was my first birthday. Now can you imagine the concentration she had? Her ability to stay on task and finish playing a piece of music, then driving almost an hour to the hospital and meeting my Dad there and delivering me. Apparently Dad claimed me as his and immediately called me Lindy instead of Linda. After 73 years do you think my system has any memory of that night? My Mom said it went the way births were supposed to go and that Dr. Norrington put me on her stomach immediately and told the nurses to leave us be for a couple minutes. So my Mom just said hi, was just present after having played a concert and given birth. Yeah, she was a hard act to follow, my Mom. But I think it must have been a good day to be born.
I felt such less pain today, but the shot shoots my blood sugar out of orbit and today was my birthday, people gave me sugar stuff. People rarely give me sweets, but today I had no ability to resist. I did go up to the rookery where it was 87 degrees. I've had it snow on my birthday more often than it hit 90 degrees. Got awful close to it today.
I was going to write a lot today, but I didn't, my head was too foggy. I did get to go to dinner with EJ, Diane, Clara and David and it was relaxing and sweet. So glad we did it, made me feel loved. I didn't need a big celebration, I just needed comfort.. Definitely a very kind group for that
Somebody gave me 2 balloons last night. I put them out by the path this evening and when it rained it flattened the balloons. The rain didn't last long at all but a large rainbow appeared and Clara and I got good photos of it down by the restaurant.
